"Sunday Dinner On Hudson"
This photo was taken on a quiet Sunday night at the top of the West Village. I’d walked past this little bistro dozens of times, but on this particular summer evening the light from the storefront caught me. It was soft and golden, spilling onto the sidewalk just enough to make the whole scene feel still. Right in front, a mom, dad, and their two boys were sitting down to dinner, like the rest of the city was playing at the same pace.
It’s one of the more nostalgic photos I’ve taken, and probably one of my all-time favorites. There’s something about that calm, simple moment that captures exactly why I love photographing New York. The beauty hiding in the quiet corners, the small glimpses of life that remind you to slow down and notice what’s right in front of you.
