This photo was taken just as the light was fading, a group of friends sitting in a circle under the towering apartment buildings along Billionaires’ Row. I’ve always loved this scene. The contrast between the open green expanse of the park and the walls of glass and steel rising above it. There’s something about that balance that feels so uniquely New York, the calm right next to the chaos.
The group stayed there talking long after most people had gone, until a park ranger finally walked over to let them know it was time to leave. It’s one of those moments that captures a feeling more than anything.
